In over water 30 schreef ik uitgebreid over de Procambarus clarkii, de rode Amerikaanse rivierkreeft en eindigde het artikel met: “Het wordt tijd dat deze beestjes op de menukaart komen van ons mensen en van liefhebbers van kreeftenvlees in de natuur. Anders gaan ze, als hun verspreiding door gaat, uiteindelijk voor meer werk en kosten voor de waterschappen zorgen.”
In over water 44 berichtte ik het volgende: “het ministerie van Economische Zaken wil de vissers in Nederland de mogelijkheid geven om grootschalig en gericht op de smakelijke rivierkreeft te vissen.”
Het is dan van de gekke dat ik op 30 juli in BNdeStem moet lezen dat per 3 augustus de Reeuwijkse beroepsvisser moet stoppen met de vangst van deze rivierkreeftjes “door Europese wetgeving en traag draaiende ambtelijke molens in Den Haag”. Het ene ministerie geeft tonnen aan subsidie uit om vissers te stimuleren die ‘exoten’, die onze inheemse natuur verwoesten, te vangen en het ander ministerie, visser Hans van der Laan noemt het “Haagse pennenlikkers”, doet zijn werk niet en gaat vrolijk op vakantie terwijl regelgeving, die de vangst legaal moet maken, nog niet af is. Men heeft “anderhalf jaar de tijd” voor het maken van een beheerplan. Dus waarom haast maken lijkt het credo! En dat met een regering die claimt dat onnodig bedrijvigheid belemmerende regelgeving terug gedrongen moet worden. Nee, we importeren liever Chinese en Spaanse rivierkreeftjes. De rode Amerikaanse rivierkreeftjes, die van der Laan vangt, eindigen in de beste restaurants en doen iets aan het overlast probleem van deze exoten.
Wie zit hier te suffen? Wie laat een kans lopen? Welk kamerlid is nog even niet met vakantie en gaat zijn werk doen? Wie zorgt dat het ‘beheerplan’ er als de donder komt? Wie geeft die pennenlikkers in Den Haag een schop onder de kont? En wie laat de verantwoordelijke minister spitsroeden lopen? Wie zorgt ervoor dat visser van der Laan en zijn collega’s gewoon hun werk kunnen blijven doen? Wie stopt onnodige import en doet echt iets voor het behoud van onze inheemse natuur?
