(NATTE/ZOUTE) DROOM OF NACHTMERRIE – 30: TUSSENSTAND PETITIE 4
De landsregering heeft de “ontwerp-rijksstructuurvisie Grevelingen en Volkerak-Zoommeer” vastgesteld en daarmee het voornemen kenbaar gemaakt een beperkt getij terug te brengen in het Volkerak-Zoommeer en deze wateren op termijn te verzilten.
Op 14 oktober 2014 zijn wij de petitie “STOP DE VERZILTING VAN HET VOLKERAK-ZOOMMEER” gestart. Op 1 mei 2015 hadden 978 mensen deze ondertekend.
Tot 1 mei 2015 werden er bij de petitie 104 opmerkingen gemaakt die vrijwel allen de wens tot zoet blijven van het Volkerak-Zoommeer onderschreven c.q. motiveerden. Wij zullen de komende tijd een aantal van de opmerkingen via deze website onder uw aandacht brengen.

“Dit is typisch een geval van verspilling van gemeenschapsgelden en afbraak van een prachtig natuurlijk gebied met alle flora en fauna, zowel onder als boven water. De problematiek die er in het verleden was is er niet meer, maar wordt nog steeds gebruikt om dit oliedomme plan door te drukken. Dat dit gebied enige betekenis zou krijgen voor toerisme, watersport of beroepsmatige teelt van mossels en/of oesters is onzinnig! Deze wateren hebben 0,0 voorzieningen voor toerisme en recreatie en zijn zeer druk bevaren door zware beroepsvaart. De andere wateren in die regio die zilt zijn tonen nagenoeg geen tekenen van leven en zijn stinkende dode plassen. Dat is waar ook deze wateren in zullen veranderen! Echt zout water van zee zal nooit deze doodlopende wateren bereiken. Deze wateren zullen bestaan uit viezig brakkig stikkend water…… Daarnaast lijkt het of men structureel bezig is de sportvisserij branche de nek om te draaien door de vismogelijkheden in de regio te vernietigen, de visserij in het Hollandsdiep en Haringvliet wordt op dit moment vernietigd door een kleine groep beroepsvissers die op korte termijn alle vis oogst die daar zwemt. Dure projecten om zalmen, steuren e.d. te herintroduceren ten spijt. Deze gaan kapot aan quota loze beroepsvisserij. Aan de ene kant worden miljoenen gepompt om de natuur beter te maken, maar deze honderden miljoenen hebben alleen een vernietigende werking!”

De reacties over de haven, met zijn hele mooie en goede faciliteiten maar ook het prachtige vaargebied zijn altijd zeer positief. Zelf neem ik vaak gasten mee om voor een dag op het Volkerak mee te varen. Het zou eeuwig zonde zijn dit prachtige gebied met zijn zeer grote diversiteit aan leven, weer om zeep te helpen. Jammer, jammer, jammer.”
