Groen, Groen , Groen moet het adagium worden. Groen in de openbare ruimte is een belangrijk hulpmiddel bij het aanpakken van hittestress en wateroverlast, en het versterken van de biodiversiteit.

Voor succesvolle klimmers is het goed te kiezen voor onderhoudsarme soorten en te kiezen voor een plant waarvan de natuurlijke groeihoogte past bij de gewenste groeihoogte op de te bedekken gevel.
Hoe mooi zou het zijn als Bergen op Zoom bekend zou worden om haar prachtige gevelbegroeiingen. Je kan deze ook per wijk of dorp anders laten zijn. Bijvoorbeeld Lepelstraat het dorp van de bosrank in het Engels: old man’s beard. Halsteren het kamperfoelie-dorp of anders gezegd het dorp van de honeysuckle. En Bergen op Zoom de stad met de wijken van de Chinese blauweregen en de Japanse blauweregen waarbij de woningen van de hobbybrouwers getooid zijn met de wilde hop.
Misschien ben ik een BSD-dromer. Maar als we echt zouden willen, kunnen we iets unieks tot stand brengen. Met één plan de stad en haar dorpen groener, mooier, gezonder, klimaat-neutraler maken en ons onderscheiden op een andere manier van de rest van de wereld. Wat dan nodig is? ANDERS KIJKEN!
