Ons Water vraagt aandacht voor de mogelijkheden van waterberging op platte daken en daken met een hellingshoek van maximaal 45 graden. Verkennende onderzoeken (o.a. op het dak van het gemeentearchief van Rotterdam) wijzen uit dat ‘groendaken’ een zinvolle bijdrage kunnen leveren aan het verbeteren van waterkwaliteit en het voorkomen/beperken van wateroverlast. Andere voordelen kunnen zijn:
– energiebesparing door isolatie,
– verlaging van de stadstemperatuur in de zomer,
– groene belevingswaarde,
– beperking van fijnstof in de lucht
– verhoging stedelijke natuurwaarden.
Bij groendaken gaat het om sedumdaken van circa 5 centimeter dikte, die op bestaande en nieuwbouwdaken kunnen worden gelegd. De langzaam groeiende vegetatie is winter en zomerhard en heeft weinig onderhoud nodig. De groene vetplantjes met een geel/rode bloeiwijze leveren een mooier zicht op dan de grauwgrijze kleur van de meeste platte daken.
Ons Water verzoekt uw College de mogelijkheid van groendaken mee te nemen bij de bouwkundige inrichting van uw gemeente, alsmede bij de opstelling en uitvoering van eventuele waterplannen.
