Als aanvulling op mijn inspraak ten aanzien van de “startnotitie planstudie waterkwaliteit Volkerak-Zoommeer” d.d. 7 november 2007 (zie bijlage), wil ik u wijzen op een publicatie in de Volkskrant van vandaag onder de kop “Zoet plus zout laat lichten branden” en de subkop “Energieopwekking / Ook critici zijn om: contact rivierwater met zeewater kan één kolencentrale vervangen”. Ook in recente televisiespotjes van Essent komt deze energie opwekkingsoptie als duurzame toevoeging aan de energie opwekkingsmethoden van Essent aan de orde. En wat is de geschetste lokatie? De Grevelingendam! Voor die mogelijkheid moet het Krammer/Volkerak/Zoommeersysteem wel zoet blijven. Het aardige van dat artikel is, dat er dan alle reden is om te zorgen dat er het gehele jaar voldoende zoetwater wordt afgevoerd via het Volkerak en daarmede, via doorstroming ook een bijdrage geleverd wordt aan verbetering van de waterkwaliteit van het Krammer/Volkerak/Zoommeersysteem.
Ik roep u op om niet éénzijdig met een tunnelvisie te kijken naar de verziltingsvariant om de problemen van de waterkwaliteit in het Krammer/Volkerak/Zoommeersysteem op te lossen. Kijk integraal naar de (nieuwe) technische mogelijkheden en de brede doelstellingen op milieugebied zoals duurzame energieopwekking en reductie van koolzuurgas.
