Recent gelezen “Gemalen… het behouden waard”, geschreven/samengesteld door ing. R. Polderman en Ir. C. J. M. Tak en in 2001 uitgegeven door de Nederlandse Gemalenstichting en Tak Architektenbureau. Het is een inventarisatie en selectie van 44 uit bijna 1600 gemalen. Het laat zien hoe mooi Industrieel erfgoed kan zijn.
Ik ben portefeuillehouder van het PAS project Westelijke Langstraat. Voor degenen die de planvorming en realisatie van dit project willen volgen heeft de provincie Noord-Brabant recent een gerichte website gestart. In de Westelijke Langstraat wordt de komende jaren flink geïnvesteerd in de natuur. Naast de bestaande natuurgebieden komt er veel nieuwe natuur bij. Ongeveer 250 ha landbouwgrond krijgt op den duur de bestemming natuur. In dit project speelt water een voorname rol vandaar de bemoeienis van het waterschap Brabantse Delta met dit project.

Dagelijks Bestuursvergadering met o.a. de agendapunten: de ontwerpbegroting van Het Waterschapshuis 2018, de concept begroting Aquon 2018, de managementletter tussentijdse controle 2016 en de stand van zaken buurtwaterfonds. En een aantal PHO’s over o.a. de dijkverbetering Geertruidenberg/Amertak. In de middag een expertbijeenkomst over het klimaat robuuster maken van de gemeente Bergen op Zoom in het Natuurpoduim/Stayokay te Bergen op Zoom. Wat mij op viel was de stevige aanwezigheid van mensen van de GGD en GGZ en vooral hun bijdrage aan de discussie. Mijn complimenten dat ook dit soort organisaties inzien dat je mensen vrij moet maken voor dit soort discussies.

Vandaag ben ik naar de verdediging van het proefschrift “Eco-engineering for clarity, clearing blue-green ponds and lakes in an urbanized area” van Guido Waajen in Wageningen geweest te Wageningen. Het was een mooie bijeenkomst. In het proefschrift worden onder andere een aantal proeven beschreven die gehouden zijn in het werkgebied van het Waterschap Brabantse Delta, te weten:
- De restauratie van en behandeling met een flocculatiehulpmiddel (polyaluminiumchloride) van De Kleine Melanen (Bergen op Zoom).
- De behandeling met een flocculatiehulpmiddel (ijzerchloride) en met lanthanium gemodificeerd bentoniet (Phoslock) van De Kuil (Breda).
- Een compartimenteringsproef in de vijver langs de Monseigneur Schaepmanlaan (Dongen) waar een zestal systemen van aanpak werden getest.
- Een proef met driehoeks en quagga mosselen in een vijver nabij de kinderboerderij in de Hoge Vucht (gelegen aan Tussen de Dijken) te Breda en de Linievijver gelegen tussen de Archimedesstraat en de N285 te Breda.
Gezien de blauwalg problemen waar menig waterbeheerder mee te kampen heeft, is het proefschrift van de nu Doctor Guido Waajen zeker het lezen waard. Het is nu nog in een beperkte oplage beschikbaar en opvraagbaar via mailadres [email protected] (zolang de voorraad strekt).

In de morgen een fractie vergadering van Ons Water/West-Brabant Waterbreed ter voorbereiding van het AB van 10 mei en daarvoor een PHO over de dijkverbetering Geertruidenberg/Amertak.
Tot slot een mooi voorbeeld uit mijn eigen gemeente Bergen op Zoom hoe een straat (Vijverberg) kolkvrij kan worden ingericht. Water doorlatende parkeerplaatsen en het regenwater wordt via speciale openingen via het talud naar oppervlakte water geleid.
