Open dag op Bouvigne. Er was veel te zien en voor mijn beleving was het drukker dan andere jaren. Het meest te bekijken waard vond ik de tot regenton omgebouwde Bredase afvalcontainers en de opblaasbare noodwaterkering (alleen de kleur verbaasde mij).
De waterbak met slootleven trekt altijd veel jeugdige belangstelling. Het weer werkte mee en de percussieband met een aantal waterschapsmedewerkers verhoogde de sfeer. Voor mij een mooie afsluiting van de week van Ons Water!
22 mei
Samen met collega Kees de Jong een overleg met een boseigenaar over de status en het daaraan verbonden onderhoud van een watergang.
In de avond een informatiebijeenkomst over het dijkverbeteringsproject Geertruidenberg/Amertak, waarbij ik een vol uur vragen beantwoordde over de keuze van het Dagelijks Bestuur om de dijk rond de Slikpolder niet te verbeteren, maar een nieuwe dijk aan te leggen ten zuiden van de Slikpolder.

De dijkwerkersdag 2017 te Utrecht. Het programma was opgebouwd rondom vier subthema’s: innovatie, inspiratie, ideeënpitch en verbinden. 
Bij het onderdeel ideeënpitch werden drie ideeën gepresenteerd. Een idee voor een energiecentrale drijvend in de rivier, waarbij de stroming van de rivier werd benut om energie te winnen, werd de winnaar. Er was ook een idee om autobanden te benutten in de dijkenbouw, waarbij deze gevuld met grond gestapeld werden. Voor mij een oud idee wat veel lijkt op de vroegere Haringman blokken die in de jaren vijftig gebruikt werden om snel een dijk te verhogen. Een ander idee was een floodlabel om het overstromingsrisico van wijken, straten en huizen in kaart te brengen. Eén van de workshops die ik volgde ging over het geven van gastlessen op scholen. In de morgen de opening van het heringerichte gebied Weerijs-Zuid. Ik verving hier collega Jacques van der Aa, die node gemist werd. Op grote schaal zijn de eerder gestelde doelen voor landbouw, natuur, water, recreatie, wonen en werken bereikt en is het gebied aantrekkelijker en leefbaarder geworden voor ondernemers, bewoners en recreanten en krijgen flora en fauna meer kansen.
In de middag een PHO over de Keenesluis en heb ik de stuurgroep Vitaal Leisure Landschap bijgewoond waar de gezamenlijke uitvoeringsagenda en doelstellingen zijn besproken.
