Toen ik het ‘coalitieakkoord’ van Waterschap Brabantse Delta (2023-2027) doorbladerde was mijn eerst reactie: is dit wel een document van het waterschap Brabantse Delta? Tien foto’s, slechts één van de bebouwde kom. Terwijl meer dan 97 % van onze bevolking binnen ons waterschap IN een dorp of stad woont!
Toen ik er even voor ging zitten en met een loep de foto’s bekeek, telde ik op die foto’s 18 mensen en 26 koeien. Maar dat was nog een ‘mooie’ verhouding. Als je de website van de Brabants Delta opent is de eerste foto die je ziet er een met twee mensen op de fiets en vijftien koeien, en nog veel meer gras!
De foto’s in het ‘coalitieakkoord’ laten een waterschap zien dat alleen grasland lijkt te kennen. Terwijl de werkelijkheid is dat de kleigebieden van ons waterschap gekenmerkt worden door akkerland en de zandgebieden door bossen en natuur afgewisseld met landbouw.
Op de foto’s ontbreken niet alleen de akkerbouwpercelen maar ook de industrie is afwezig. Gras, gras en nog eens gras. De foto’s vertellen niet het werkelijke verhaal. Wat zegt dat over de inhoud van het coalitieprogramma? Zijn de foto’s een indicatie van onze toekomst? Komen de koeien van de Randstad (het Groene Hart) naar ons mooie akkerland, ons open landschap? Zijn koeien voor deze coalitiepartijen belangrijker dan mensen? Waar is er nog wel plaats voor iets anders dan grasland?
Deze partizaan en Ons Water koesteren wel onze natuurgebieden, onze bossen, onze industrie, onze bedrijven, onze akkerbouwers, andere gewassen dan gras zoals onze Brabantse boomteelt of aardbeien, asperges en potaardappelen stuk voor stuk topproducten, maar ook onze inwoners, onze dorpen en steden! Kortom er is meer te zien in ons mooie West-Brabant en te beschermen dan gras en koeien!
