TUSSENSTAND PETITIE – 3
De landsregering heeft de “ontwerp-rijksstructuurvisie Grevelingen en Volkerak-Zoommeer” vastgesteld en daarmee het voornemen kenbaar gemaakt een beperkt getij terug te brengen in het Volkerak-Zoommeer en deze wateren op termijn te verzilten.
Op 14 oktober 2014 zijn wij de petitie “STOP DE VERZILTING VAN HET VOLKERAK-ZOOMMEER” gestart. Op 1 april 2015 hadden 972 mensen deze ondertekend. Tot 1 april 2015 werden er bij de petitie 103 opmerkingen gemaakt die vrijwel allen de wens tot zoet blijven van het Volkerak-Zoommeer onderschreven c.q. motiveerden. Wij zullen de komende tijd een aantal van de opmerkingen via deze website onder uw aandacht brengen.
15 oktober 2014:
“Als voormalig waterbouwer, betrokken bij de aanleg van de secundaire deltawerken, heb ik met grote verbazing kennisgenomen van de beslissing van dit kabinet. Met heel veel miljoenen guldens (euro’s) belastinggeld van de inwoners is een veilig en prachtig Volkerak-Zoommeer ontstaan dat nu plotsklaps weer teniet wordt gedaan. Hierbij moet bedacht worden dat het 30 jaar geduurd heeft om tot dit moois te komen. Verzilting vraagt wederom een tijdsspanne van 30 jaar of meer om eenzelfde?? natuur terug te krijgen. Verzilting heeft alleen zin als het volledige getij terugkeert want anders verkrijgen de omwonenden een stinkende en rottende waterplas ervoor terug. De omliggende gemeenten dienen zich hiervan goed bewust te zijn omdat dit ook ten koste gaat van het alom gepropageerde (water)toerisme in deze regio.”

“Verzilten betekent einde van glashelder zoet water met alle mooie natuur die erbij hoort! Verzilten is voor de waterkwaliteit overbodig en brengt geen robuustheid, enkel onzekerheid voor de toekomst.”

“Zoet water is al schaars in de wereld, daar moeten we zuinig op zijn. Ook de landbouw zal last krijgen van indringend brak water.”

“Den Haag is bezig met het stelselmatig overboord gooien van gemeenschapsgelden, door onzinnige en nutteloze projecten zoals dit, de problematiek die er in het verleden was is er niet meer, en de andere wateren in die regio die zilt zijn tonen nagenoeg geen tekenen van leven en zijn stinkende dode plassen.
Daarnaast lijkt het of men structureel bezig is de sportvisserij branche de nek om te draaien door de vismogelijkheden in de regio te vernietigen, de visserij in het Hollandsdiep en Haringvliet wordt op dit moment vernietigd door een kleine groep beroepsvissers die op korte termijn alle vis oogst die daar zwemt. Terwijl er aan de andere kant miljoenen gepompt worden om de natuur beter te maken, maar onder water is het leeg……”
