Vandaag be
n ik naar de Big Jump (springen voor proper water) op de grens van Nederland en België geweest bij de brug over de Mark bij Meersel-Dreef, georganiseerd door de Natuurvereniging Mark en Leij. De Big Jump is een evenement waarbij over heel Europa mensen in het water springen om aandacht te vragen voor schoner/proper water. Vanuit het AB deden Karin van den Berg en oud AB lid Joop van Riet mee. Mede om deze sportievelingen aan te moedigen waren DB collega Jacques van der Aa en ik aanwezig. Circa 90 personen gingen voor de gelegenheid te water.
13 juli
PHO’s (portefeuillehouderoverleggen) over de Westelijke Langstraat, de Overdiepse Polder en bijpraten over de projecten in de gemeenten: Goirle, Drimmelen, Geertruidenberg, Tilburg en Waalwijk. Voorbereiden DB vergadering.
14 juli
DB vergadering met o.a. de kadernota, een tweetal kredieten, het ontwerp waterbeheersplan en de begroting 2016 van de gemeenschappelijke regeling muskusrattenbestrijding.
15 juli
Het AB met o.a. de gewijzigde financiering vervanging bedrijfsauto’s wat de nodige discussies opleverde en het eerste uitvoeringskrediet ten behoeve van de verbetering van de regionale keringen met voor mij het leermoment dat bij de bestuurlijke overleggen met de gemeenten in mijn gebied (Waalwijk, Geertruidenberg en Drimmelen) nadrukkelijk de koppelkansen met (gemeentelijke) projecten aan bod dienen te komen.

Een werkbezoek gebracht aan de lacune in de dijk bij Terheijden langs de Mark ter hoogte van de timmerfabriek aan de Bredaseweg. Hier werd ik rondgeleid door de eigenaar/directeur en een werkbezoek aan de boerderijen van de familie de Bont in de Overdiepse Polder. Hierbij heb ik, net als bij het gesprek met een boer op 9 juli in de polder, gesproken over hun ervaringen met de realisering van het project. Uiteraard zijn zowel de plussen als de minnen aan bod gekomen. De klachten van beide boeren hebben veel gemeen. Dat vergt dan ook de nodige aandacht. Wat leuk was dat ik een rondleiding kreeg op het bedrijf waarbij het waarom van de keuzen uitgebreid gemotiveerd werd. Uit de rondleiding bleek de trots en de liefde voor het bedrijf, de dieren en de omgeving. Een voorbeeld voor velen lijkt mij de manier waarop in dit bedrijf met de mest wordt omgegaan. De dunne en dikke delen worden gescheiden en de dikke fase in het bedrijf hergebruikt op een wijze die navolging verdient. De bedoeling is om ook de dunne fase verder te bewerken waardoor deze geschikt wordt voor export. Fijn was het aanbod om beschikbaar te zijn voor (internationale) rondleidingen.
Soms wordt je als waterschapsbestuurder verrast door een burger die je uitnodigt om een cadeautje in ontvangst te nemen. Hij deed mij een plezier met een zelf gemaakt model van een watermolen. Ik ben dan ook bij de heer van der Graaf op bezoek geweest om de kleurrijke van klei vervaardigde watermolen in ontvangst te nemen. De molen krijgt, in afwachting van een bestemming, een plaatsje in mijn huis.
