In de morgen een portefeuillehouderoverleg over waterontwikkelingen in de gemeente Waalwijk, waaronder het havenuitbreidingsplan en wat dat kan betekenen voor de status van de dijken in dat gebied.

Een dag vol bestuurlijke overleggen. In de morgen was het eerste overleg met wethouder Bruijniks in het spiksplinter nieuwe gemeentehuis Het Klavier, in de collegekamer met een raam in de binnenmuur dat zicht geeft in de raadszaal. Een veelheid van onderwerpen kwam aan de orde waaronder de wateroverlast op 27/28 juli 2014. Deze wateroverlast gaat de gemeente zelf, met medewerking en meedenken van het waterschap, in de toekomst proberen te voorkomen. En zeker met oog voor de klimaatverandering die steeds vaker tot extreme buien leidt. Met de wetenschap dat het hoogte profiel van de gemeente Loon op Zand betekent dat het regenwater bij een zware bui, deels over straat, stroomt naar het laagste punt (Gasthuisstraat, Sweensstraat, alsmede de omgeving Roestenbergstraat/Bevrijdingsweg), start de gemeente een onderzoek naar overloop/bergingsgebieden buiten het bebouwd gebied ten westen van de kern Kaatsheuvel. Het waterschap werkt graag mee om de mogelijkheden hier van te onderzoeken.
Daarna een lunchbijeenkomst in het stadskantoor van Tilburg met wethouders van Tilburg en Goirle en de directie van Brabant Water over een voorstel tot een betere bescherming/verduurzaming van de drinkwaterwinning Gilzerbaan.
Later op de middag een bestuurlijk overleg met de gemeente Geertruidenberg met wethouder van Oort. Een agendapunt was: de inhaalslag handhaving keur onder andere het oneigenlijke grondgebruik. Hierbij zal worden bekeken of de gemeentelijke en waterschapsaanpak gecombineerd kan worden en wat in dit traject van elkaar geleerd kan worden. Ook kwam de voorgenomen dijkverbetering Amertak/Geertruidenberg aan de orde. Alsmede de blauwalg situatie in De Veste.
8 oktober
Vandaag naar de dijkbezwijkproef Leendert de Boerspolder geweest in Roelofarendsveen. Een prachtige proef die de waterschappen veel gaat leren omtrent het gedrag van veendijken bij langdurige belasting en van het monitoren van dijken in het algemeen bij belasting. Tijdens de vaartocht naar de dijkproef waren er een aantal lezingen. Met als onderwerpen: stresstesten en de waarde voor keringbeheerders door Wouter ter Horst, de sterkte van veen in dijken op veen door Henk van Hemert, herinrichting Leendert de Boerspolder door Ben Blauw en veldproeven ter aanscherping van de kennis over waterkeringen – de mogelijkheden van destructief én niet-destructief onderzoek door André Koelewijn. Kortom een genieten van een vaartocht en kennis vergaren en dat alles grotendeels op een dek onder een bescheiden zonnetje (zie onderstaande foto’s).
In de avond de fractievergadering Van Ons Water/Waterbreed ter voorbereiding van de vergadering van het Algemeen Bestuur van komende week.
