In de middag in Theater De Mythe te Goes een bijeenkomst van wethouders en waterschapsbestuurders uit het gebied van Samenwerking (afval)waterketen Zeeland. Voor mij interessant omdat bij deze bijeenkomst ook de Stowa en Rioned betrokken waren. Een leerzame bijeenkomst en discussie onder de deskundige leiding van Karla Peijs, de oud commissaris van de Koningin van Zeeland en oud voorzitter van de Visitatiecommissie Waterketen. Veel leermomenten die ik kan gebruiken bij mijn bestuurlijke trekkerschap van de werkeenheden Hart van Brabant en Werkeenheid 4 (gemeenten Oosterhout, Drimmelen, Geertruidenberg, Werkendam, Woudrichem en Aalburg). Wethouders van de Zeeuwse gemeenten waren massaal aanwezig. Van de gemeenten in West – Brabant was alleen de leergierige wethouder Paul de Beer van Breda aanwezig. Die kwam wel kennis en inspiratie opdoen. Waar was Bergen op Zoom? Was de eerste vraag die bij mij op kwam. Ze bleken In Domburg te zitten! Vast ook om inspiratie op te doen. Mijn vraag is dan altijd waar is het voornemen om vooral Bergse ondernemers de klandizie te gunnen. Het deze week ook geplande college bezoek aan Veere zal zeker water inspiratie opleveren. De wethouder van Veere die ik gesproken heb was daar van overtuigd.
24 november
In de morgen DB vergadering met onder andere de agendapunten: EVZ boomkikker (Breda, Gilze en Rijen), blauwalgenoverlast, afvalwaterakkoord Gilze en Rijen. Maar het mooiste vond ik zelf het verzoek/plan van een ondernemer die zich wil storten in de natte rijstteelt in een waterberging en daar zelfs een karbouw voor wil inzetten. Als het lukt kan het zelfs een toeristische attractie worden!
Later op de dag een PHO over het dijkverbeteringproject Geertruidenberg/Amertak.
25 november
Thema AB met als onderwerpen: bestuurlijke integriteit en asset management (hoe gaan we om met onze bezittingen/installaties). Bij het onderwerp bestuurlijke integriteit was er een interessante bijdrage van Hans Groot van Bureau Integriteitbevordering Openbare Sector (BIOS). Bij het onderwerp asset management werden wij als bestuursleden aan het werk gezet om zelf tot prioriteiten te komen.

En hele dag in Den Bosch, lokatie Koning Willem 1 college (School voor de Toekomst) op het Festival Ruimtelijke Kwaliteit 2015. Een leerzame bijeenkomst waar ik zelf drie sessies bijwoonde over de mogelijke alternatieven voor een aanpak van een weg (N625) tussen Den Bosch en Oss. Er mocht uitgebreid gedroomd worden. Normaal ben ik daar niet zo voor, maar in de ‘School voor de Toekomst’ in een oranje lokaal liet ook ik mijn fantasie een beetje los. Wat mij voor al opviel was dat gemeentelijke en provinciale beleidsambtenaren en wethouders zich wel heel weinig gelegen laten liggen aan het feit dat deze weg deels gelegen is op een dijk. Dus dat het water van de Maas ook in de toekomst wel gekeerd moet kunnen worden. Gelukkig kon ik als waterschapsbestuurder hier en daar de dromers een beetje terug op aarde krijgen.
