In de middag de (vaar)excursie door Breda met bijzondere aandacht voor de wijze waarop Breda de retentieopgave van 13.000 kubieke meter denkt vorm te geven en voor de discussienota Zoete Delta van de gemeente Breda. 
Het geschouwde gebied betreft het voormalig CSM-terrein, Corbion en Emer-zuid. Vanaf het water werd het gebied bekeken en besproken. Zelf vind ik de discussienota een goed stuk. Het is alleen jammer dat in de nota vrijwel niet wordt ingegaan op de kansen en mogelijkheden die het rijke cultuurbezit en de vesting relicten van Breda bieden. 
De recente provinciale plannen ten aanzien van de Zuiderwaterlinie (ik schreef er eerder over) worden ook niet vermeld noch betrokken bij de Bredase plannen. In mijn ogen een gemiste kans. Tijdens de vaartocht kregen de DB leden een deskundige en enthousiaste toelichting van een stedenbouwkundig ontwerper van Breda. 
Zo’n blik vanaf het water laat je soms dingen zien die voor de wandelaar onzichtbaar blijven, zoals deze in beton gegoten tekst in een muur onder een brug. “Ineens is er dit brede contact met dingen waarvan wij niet wisten dat ze zo koninklijk zijn en altijd al in en buiten ons hebben bestaan”. Ook is Breda rijk aan graffitikunst die het bekijken waard is.

DB vergadering met onder andere de agendapunten: de lange termijnagenda, een rapport “Zover het eigen instrumentarium reikt” van de universiteiten van Utrecht en Tilburg over de KRW en de Omgevingswet, de begroting 2017 van de gemeenschappelijke regeling muskusrattenbeheer en de overdracht van het beheer en eigendom waterstaatswerken van Rijkswaterstaat.

In de morgen de stuurgroep vitaal leisure landschap te Esbeek met als belangrijkste agendapunt de vaststelling van het “Plan Vitaal Leisure Landschap 2017-2020 voor de regio Hart van Brabant”. Wat ik in het plan mooi vind is de doelstelling stedelingen (Tilburgers) een gevoel van trots bij te brengen op hun achtertuin (de mooie landschappelijke omgeving van Tilburg). Het mooiste en slimste project is de afspraak tussen de deelnemende gemeenten de bermen van fietspaden in te zaaien met een bloemrijk zaadmengsel. Het doel is dat deze dan in een korte duidbare periode bloeien van bijvoorbeeld een maand, zodat ze de Betuwe naar de kroon steken. De Betuwe trekt veel toeristen en recreanten die jaarlijks naar de bloeiende boomgaarden komen kijken. Het zou prachtig zijn als toeristen, na realisering van dit project, naar de regio Hart van Brabant komen omdat het zo mooi fietsen is tussen de bloemen. Bij echte uitvoering kan het een icoonproject worden dat iets herkenbaars geeft aan de regio. Zelf heb ik hier wel een punt ter overdenking gegeven. Bijen en andere insecten hebben het hele jaar voedsel nodig. En ook voor de insecten etende vogels, die een broedsel hebben, is het van belang dat in de gehele broed- en opgroeiperiode er voldoende insecten zijn om te eten. Wat mij betreft iets om na te volgen in onze regio. Natuurlijk wel met een andere bloeiperiode. Dan vissen we niet in precies dezelfde markt.
Met tijd over tussen twee vergaderingen, maakte ik een wandeling door Esbeek en constateerde dat dit dorp een Rotterdam connectie heeft. Met een expositie en wandelroute van Andreas Schotel. Bijgaand een foto van een beeld van Hannes Verhoeven van een boer en boerin waar Andreas Schotel regelmatig verbleef met een ‘modern’ kind op de plek waar de stoomtram stopte in de tijd van Schotels verblijf in Esbeek als verbinding van het dorp met de stad van Schotel.
In de middag de RRO vergadering Hart van Brabant in Goirle en in de avond de fractievergadering van Ons Water/West-Brabant Waterbreed.
