Dijk nabij Willemstad
In mijn vakantie heb ik gelezen “Integral design of multifunctional flood defenses“. Een boek uitgegeven met steun van STW, een stichting die recent is opgegaan in NWO, TU Delft, de Universiteit van Wageningen en de Universiteit Twente. Het boek bevat tal van Nederlandse en buitenlandse voorbeelden hoe dijkprojecten multidisciplinair aangepakt kunnen worden om een dijk of keermiddel multifunctioneel te gebruiken. Zeker in ons land, waar de ruimte beperkt is en de grond duur, is het geboden om zo mogelijk een dijk of keermiddel multifunctioneel te gebruiken. Hierbij blijft behoud en mogelijk versterking van de waterkerende functie een voorwaarde. Voor iedere waterschapper en voor een ieder die betrokken is bij de planologie een lezenswaardig boek.

Op de eerste dag na thuiskomst van de vakantie op de Faröer eilanden de RRO vergadering van de regio Hart van Brabant met onder andere: de actualisatie prioritaire projectenlijst PAS. Daarna twee werkateliers in het kader van regionale ontwikkeldag ruimte en mobiliteit Hart van Brabant. Met als thema’s: De gebiedsopgave leisureboulevard/N 261-zone en de regionale energiestrategie in relatie tot ruimte en mobiliteit.
De bijeenkomst werd gehouden in de Hilvaria Studio’s te Hilvarenbeek, een locatie die een bezoek waard is. De gebouwen en de inrichting met kunst en de overgangen tussen binnen en buiten is prachtig. Zelfs in een bosrijke omgeving wordt slim gebruik gemaakt van water om zaken niet alleen te verfraaien maar ook te koelen. Op deze zeer warme dag was dat voor mij meer dan welkom. Want als je weken op een plek waar 10 graden standaard was en 12 graden een warme dag bent geweest, was de overgang naar 35 graden een stevige. In de vergadering, die van gemeentewege vooral de insteek had de PAS ‘ruimte’ te benutten, was ik blij dat ik aandacht kon vragen voor: het middels maatregelen ten behoeve van de natuur, PAS ‘ruimte’ te creëren. Hierbij is juist de inzet van de gemeente, in samenspraak en samenwerking met de waterschappen, gewenst en versterkt moet worden.
