OVER WATER – 98

Vandaag de bestuurdersdag van de Unie van waterschappen in Veghel in het oude CHV gebouw aan de Noordkade. Het heeft wel iets om bijeen te komen in een industriële omgeving. Het parkeerterrein maakte al indruk met de oude meng/gietpotten in een rij.
Soms begint de verwondering al bij het binnen komen van de zaal. Op ieder stoeltje een flesje Spa. Voor een zichzelf als duurzaam presenterende organisatie, zoals de Unie, vind ik flessenwater al niks, maar dan ook nog uit het buitenland terwijl er niets mis is met water uit de Brabantse grond. Foei!. 
Maar de verwondering ging door. We werden per video welkom geheten door de dijkgraaf van het waterschap Aa en Maas, onze gastheer Lambert Verheijen. In het filmpje was een oever te zien met distels en berenklauw. Twee planten die we als waterschap toch zouden moeten verwijderen. Daarna waren er een tweetal interessante lezingen van Liesbeth de Theije over het programma ’transitie landbouw’. Zij deponeerde de stelling dat waterschappen zich naar de omgeving zouden moeten presenteren als kennispartner/kenniscentrum. Daar heb ik zelf wat twijfels bij. In tegenstelling tot wat waterschappen zelf beweren, zijn ze door hun risicomijdend gedrag niet echt vernieuwend. De andere spreker was rector magnificus Arthur Mol van de Wageningen Universiteit en Research over water en voedsel. Wat op mij indruk maakte waren zijn klimaatvoorspellingen ten aanzien van de neerslaghoeveelheden en hun invloed op de productie van voedsel. Met name in Spanje en Portugal in Europa en Turkije, Syrië en Irak in het Midden-Oosten zouden de komende eeuw wel eens te maken kunnen krijgen met dalingen van de neerslag met 40 tot 60 %. Wat dit gaat beteken voor de leefbaarheid en voedselproductie in die gebieden, waar ook de bevolkingstoename de afgelopen jaren hoog is geweest en de problemen voor de bevolking al immens zijn, laat zich raden.
Daarna heb ik een bezoek gebracht aan de ‘Verspillingsfabriek’, waar ik een lezing bijwoonde over hun inzet om verspilling van voedsel te voorkomen. Het motto van de spreker was: ‘van betekenis zijn’. Dat is zeker wat de Verspillingsfabriek en de initiatiefnemers proberen te zijn!

DB met onder andere de agendapunten: reactie DB op de algemene beschouwingen bij de kadernota, prognose en realisatie projecten zuiveringsbeheer, begroting 2018 muskusrattenbestrijding, aanvullende toetsing regionale keringen 2017 en de aanpak 2e toetsing regionale keringen.
En PHO cultuurhistorie en PHO over de bestuursovereenkomst A27.
In de namiddag een overleg samen met onze dijkgraaf Huub Hieltjes met gedeputeerde Johan van den Hout en wethouder Kevin van Oort over de Slikpolder.
28 juni
PHO ter voorbereiding van het bestuurlijk overleg met de gemeente Waalwijk.
PHO ter voorbereiding van het bestuurlijk overleg met de gemeente Rucphen.
Oordeelsvormende bijeenkomst van het AB over waterkwaliteit. Daarna de voortzetting van het reguliere AB.
29 juni
Bestuurlijk overleg gemeente Rucphen over met name de verdeling van kosten bij een aantal werkzaamheden.
In de middag een gesprek met 9 kinderen van de Zonneberg school in Kruisland in het kader van hun Lego challenge welke in 2017/2018 over water zal gaan.
30 juni
Raadsexcursie van de gemeente Moerdijk over de centrumontwikkelingen inclusief de Roode Vaart waar ik een toelichting gaf over de inbreng en het belang van het waterschap bij dit project.
