BOMEN

De Conventie inzake Biologische Diversiteit (CBD 1992) is gericht op het behoud van de ecologische basis van de aarde in combinatie met economische ontwikkeling. Ondertekend door 195 landen.

De ontwikkelingsagenda Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s). Ondertekend door 193 lidstaten van de Verenigde Naties.

De Europese Green Deal 2019. Met als doelstelling voor 2050 klimaatneutraal te zijn.

De EU-Biodiversiteitsstrategie. Benoemt concrete doelstellingen voor biodiversiteitsherstel.

Het klimaatplan 2021-2030. 49 % Minder CO2 uitstoot in 2030.
Kortom er is werk aan de winkel voor alle overheden om vergroening van de leefomgeving ter hand te nemen.
Het is dus tijd om bij werkzaamheden in de openbare ruimte door gemeenten en waterschappen groen en daarin zeker bomen sterk te positioneren. Het Norminstituut Bomen biedt toegang tot kennis. Het wordt tijd dat alle provincies, gemeenten en waterschappen via een licentiehouderschap zich toegang verschaffen tot de kennis die in het Norminstituut Bomen aanwezig is. Het Norminstituut Bomen is de norm voor het verbeteren van de kwaliteitszorg rond bomen in de openbare ruimte. Voor kinderen is het Handboek Bomen junior beschikbaar. Het geen een leuke en leerzame start is om kennis te maken met het belang van bomen.
Voor overheden en een ieder die te maken heeft met werken aan bomen in de leefomgeving zou de Handreiking Omgevingswet en bomen 2021 verplichte kost moeten zijn.
