Betreft: Integrale gebiedsanalyse (IGA) Cruijslandse kreken
Geacht College,
Hoewel het gebied van de IGA Cruijslandse kreken nagenoeg volledig buiten het gemeentelijk territoir van de gemeente Bergen op Zoom valt, neemt de BSD fractie de vrijheid te wijzen op één van de in deze IGA voorgestelde maatregelen, welke een aanzienlijk effect kan hebben op de natuurkwaliteiten van onze waterloop de Zoom.
De voorgestelde maatregel betreft het middels een regelkunstwerk in de droge maanden (mei tot en met november) afkoppelen van de Bleekloop van de Zoom en het aankoppelen van deze waterloop aan de Smalle Beek. Het effect zal zijn dat de watertoevoer naar de Zoom in het droge seizoen zal verminderen met alle gevolgen voor de natuur in de benedenloop van de Zoom.
De motivatie is gelegen in het feit dat het waterschap ‘de watervoerendheid van de Zoom minder belangrijk vindt dan die van de Smalle Beek vanwege de functie waternatuur die niet geldt voor watergebonden fauna.’.
Op deze wijze houden wij wel de lasten van de Bleekloop (watertoevoer als er teveel water zou zijn), maar niet de lusten van de Bleekloop (watertoevoer om droogvallen van de Zoom in de zomer te voorkomen c.q. uit te stellen). Het Nationaal Bestuursakkoord Water behelst niet afwentelen. Hier wordt feitelijk het droogvallen in het droge seizoen afgewenteld. Hieronder zal de natuurkwaliteit in Bergen op Zoom lijden.
De BSD fractie verzoekt Uw College in een vroegtijdig stadium bij het waterschap kenbaar te maken dat de gemeente Bergen op Zoom deze maatregel onwenselijk vindt.
