In de vroege ochtend eerst een portefeuillehouderoverleg over de Zuiderwaterlinie ter voorbereiding van een partnerconferentie op 27 mei in Bergen op Zoom.
Daarna een overleg over onze belangen bij het Gilzerbaan project in de gemeente Tilburg.
In de avond een extra fractie overleg over de ontstane situatie door het vertrek van een dagelijks bestuurslid.

Aan het begin van de middag een extra DB over de ontstane situatie door het vertrek van één van de leden.
In de middag heb ik met Liesbeth Rumpt (coördinator van Food4Bees, cel Brabantse Wal) gesproken over hoe West-Brabant, en in het bijzonder Bergen op Zoom (ik ben immers ook gemeenteraadslid), te laten zoemen. In de BSD nieuwsbrief schreef ik eerder over een door het Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) uitgebracht rapport over met uitsterven bedreigde bijensoorten en andere bestuivers. Dit bracht bij mij de overtuiging dat ook in ‘waterprojecten’ aandacht gegeven kan worden aan bijen en hun biotoop. Een voorbeeld is in ons eigen werkgebied ‘Het Belslijntje’ (een lint van 35 kilometer van voor bijen aantrekkelijke voedselplekken tussen Tilburg en Turnhout) en de Bee Deal van het waterschap Brabantse Delta met de gemeente Zundert, Treeport Zundert en de imkervereniging. Projecten die navolging verdienen. De komende tijd zal ik met regelmaat zowel in mijn waterdagboek (Over Water) als in de BSD nieuwsbrieven in gaan op bijenprojecten elders als voorbeelden die ook in het werkgebied van Brabantse Delta en in Bergen op Zoom navolging verdienen.

Aan het begin van de avond coalitieoverleg met als kernthema hoe om te gaan met het vertrek van het DB lid van ongebouwd en hoe kijken we aan tegen de opvolging? De positie van Ons Water/West-Brabant Waterbreed is dat opvolging vanuit de fractie ongebouwd wel logisch is, mits met een breed gedragen en ervaren kandidaat. Terugkijkend naar de totstandkoming van deze coalitie was het logisch dat ongebouwd en bedrijfsgebouwd beiden een DB lid zouden leveren omdat ze alle twee een zeer ervaren DB lid/kandidaat hadden. Daar neem je niet zomaar afscheid van. Het is niet vanzelfsprekend dat dit ook nu of in de toekomst zal blijven gebeuren. Ons waterschap is qua DB samenstelling (vijf DB leden plus de dijkgraaf en 2 DB leden uit de geborgde zetels een uitzondering). Ongebouwd en bedrijfsgebouwd zijn qua zeteltal kleiner geworden en zijn nu getalsmatig oververtegenwoordigd. Uiteindelijk zal het altijd moeten gaan om de kwaliteit van de kandidaten, maar de getalsverhouding in het AB is ook van belang.
In de avond een AB vergadering met onder andere de agendapunten: de rapportage van de Rekenkamercommissie ‘integraal werken’, de TTIP motie ingediend door de PvdA, de meervoudige centrumregeling Winnend Samenwerken en de Managementletter 2016-1.

Op 15 april bij een Unie bijkomst had ik de heer Jan de Vries van Boot & Co ontmoet, een boomkweker met bedrijven in Boskoop en Zundert. Een ondernemer in functioneel groen wiens bedrijf al meer dan 60 jaar actief is en zijn best doet de bedrijfsvoering binnen alle milieuvereisten vorm te geven. Ze zijn in het rijke bezit van ISO 9001 en 14001 en het milieukeur certificaat. Met trots stuurde hij vandaag een aantal foto’s op van zijn retentievijver nabij zijn bedrijf in Zundert, waarmee het bedrijf de waterkringloop, op zijn bedrijf, zo goed mogelijk sluitend maakt. Binnen ons AB wordt met regelmaat gepraat over het middelengebruik in die sector en over de gevolgen die dat heeft (gehad) op de Moersloot. De foto’s van zijn retentievijver laten zien dat ook een retentievijver van een boomkweker een mooie bijdrage kan leveren aan de ecologische waarden in een boomkwekergebied zoals Zundert.

De bestuursvergadering van het Regionaal Archief West-Brabant bijgewoond. Dit keer niet in Oudenbosch maar in de Domeinkamer van het Markiezenhof.
