Betreft: Vragen over de aanvoer van zoet water, kenmerk 18003
Geacht Dagelijks bestuur,
De huidige hoge temperaturen en de ermee gepaard gaande droogte hebben tot gevolg dat de aanvoer van zoet water de nodige inspanningen van ons waterschap vereist. Op dit moment is alles nog redelijk in de hand te houden in ons gebied. De klimaatscenario’s veranderen echter met dag en de extremen blijven elkaar overtreffen. Een aantal factoren was voor West-Brabant gelukkig gunstig ten aanzien van de aanvoer van zoet water. Overbodig te vermelden dat de beschikbaarheid van zoet water ook wereldwijd een punt van zorg is.
De voorgenomen verzilting van het Volkerak-Zoommeer (al gaande door het achterstallige onderhoud van de sluizen) maakt dat een belangrijke bron van zoet water gaat wegvallen. Zoet water voor West-Brabant wordt in dat scenario via de Roode Vaart aangevoerd.
Vragen
- Is de aanvoer van voldoende zoet water in de huidige extreme weersomstandigheden gegarandeerd wanneer het Volkerak-Zoommeer zou zijn verzilt?
- Zijn er alternatieve aanvoerroutes voor zoet water denkbaar?
- Is in de huidige beleidsdocumenten rekening gehouden met de extremen waar we nu al mee te maken hebben?
- Is heroverweging van de verzilting van het Volkerak-Zoommeer niet urgent?
