Geacht Dagelijks Bestuur,
In “Het Waterschap” van 4 maart j.l. staat een artikel onder de kop “Oogkleppen moeten af – onderzoeker pleit voor samenwerking waterschappen en archeologen”.
Met een zekere regelmaat wordt of is het waterschap betrokken bij verstoringen van het bodemarchief. Ook op de agenda van de komende AV van 6 april staat bijvoorbeeld een kredietaanvraag (realisatie Kruislandse Kreken), waarbij in principe archeologisch onderzoek in het kader van het Verdrag van Valetta vereist is.
Hoe gaat het Waterschap hiermee om?
In ons werkgebied hebben niet alle gemeenten een archeologische dienst. Hoe verloopt de samenwerking met gemeenten met een archeologische dienst (bijvoorbeeld Breda, Bergen op Zoom) en hoe met gemeenten zonder een dergelijke dienst?
Hoe worden archeologische activiteiten ingekocht? Is er een vaste relatie met bijvoorbeeld een commerciële archeologische organisatie of worden de diensten ingekocht bij de gemeenten met een dergelijke activiteit? Kortom: heeft het Waterschap nu archeologische toetsing en, in geval van sporen opgraving geboden is, in deze beleid ontwikkeld?
