Geachte Heer Vos,
Met enige bevreemding heeft ondergetekende kennisgenomen van bijgaande brief aan CDA-waterschapsbestuurders (zie bijlage) met daarin de vermelding dat u deel uitmaakt van een CDA-werkgroep ter voorbereiding van de waterschapsverkiezingen in Brabant.
Gezien uw positie als dijkgraaf en beoogd voorzitter van het stembureau acht ondergetekende, als mogelijke lijsttrekker van een aan de verkiezingen deelnemende lijst (Ons Water), een dergelijke combinatie van functies volstrekt onverenigbaar.
Ondergetekende vindt het volstrekt onbegrijpelijk dat u zelf klaarblijkelijk niet begrijpt dat een dergelijke combinatie van functies uw positie als dijkgraaf en als voorzitter van het stembureau ondergraaft, waarbij uw onafhankelijkheid in het geding kan komen.
Iedereen zou het vreemd vinden als in een gemeente een burgemeester betrokken zou worden door zijn partij bij de voorbereiding van de verkiezingen in zijn gemeente.
Ik verzoek u dan ook dringen uw motivatie voor deelname aan deze CDA-werkgroep kenbaar te maken, alsmede aan te geven hoe u denkt dat een en ander te combineren valt zonder uw positie als onafhankelijk voorzitter van het stembureau te ondergraven.

Geachte waterschapsbestuurders,
Zoals u ongetwijfeld weet vinden er in november 2008 de verkiezingen voor het waterschapsbestuur weer plaats. Voor de eerste keer vinden bij de waterschappen in Nederland gelijktijdige verkiezingen plaats en wordt het aloude personenstelsel vervangen door het zogenaamde lijstenstelsel. Het CDA heeft na een grondige afweging besloten de mogelijkheid te bieden om als partij deel te nemen aan de verkiezingen. Praktisch gezien zal de provinciale afdeling het niveau zijn waar de verkiezingen ondergebracht worden. Dit maakt het mogelijk per waterschap een lijst in te dienen.
De verkiezingen vragen een goede voorbereiding en afstemming. Voor het CDA is het van groot belang dat er een zo optimaal mogelijk resultaat behaald wordt. Het partijbestuur heeft daarom besloten om een werkgroep aan te stellen die de voorbereiding van de verkiezingen ter hand neemt. Taken van de werkgroep zijn onder andere:
– zorgen dat er een programma komt met regionale accenten;
– Het inventariseren van huidige “CDA waterschapsbestuurders” en het beleggen van bijeenkomsten waarbij iedereen elkaar kan spreken en bijpraten;
– Communicatie met belangengroepen en diverse andere organisaties;
– Het opstellen van profielschetsen voor kandidaten en eventueel het samenstellen van selectiecommissies om de kandidatenlijsten samen te stellen.
– Het voorbereiden van de campagne om het gewenste succes binnen te halen.
De werkgroep bestaat uit de volgende leden:
Wim van der Doelen (voorzitter), Karin Wagt (secretaris), Ruud Bun, Anton Ederveen,
Peter Ketelaars, Annette Stinenbosch, Joseph Vos en Erik van Lith (adviseur).
De eerste activiteit van de werkgroep is het organiseren van een bijeenkomst voor de huidige waterschapbestuurders die lid zijn van het CDA. Wij willen graag met u de opgebouwde kennis delen en tegelijk een platform creëren voor draagvlak van de aanpak.
Middels dit schrijven nodigen wij U uit voor een bijeenkomst op zaterdag 15 december aanstaande van 10.00 tot 12.00 uur in de Druiventros te Berkel-Enschot.
Bij deze brief wordt een overzicht meegestuurd van de waterschapsbestuurders die op dit moment bekend zijn bij het CDA. Mist u mensen op de lijst dan vragen wij u deze uitnodiging door te sturen of ons op de hoogte te brengen van de namen van deze bestuurders.
