Geboren en getogen in Breda als zoon van een politieman. Op vijftienjarige leeftijd zijn we van het Brabantse zand naar de Zeeuwsche klei verhuisd. In Terneuzen maakte ik kennis met de Zeeuwsch-Vlaamse polders met bijbehorende waterhuishouding. Op de middelbare school vond ik het vak aardrijkskunde machtig interessant en in 1981 ben ik dan ook docent aardrijkskunde en geschiedenis geworden. Enkele jaren later ben ik bedrijfseconomie gaan studeren en informatica waardoor ik als docent breed inzetbaar was maar ook een zeer brede algemene ontwikkeling kreeg.
In 2000 ben ik adjunct-directeur geworden op de meao in Breda bij het toenmalige Baronie College. Daarna ben ik als onderwijsmanager bij verschillende ROC’s werkzaam geweest waarbij ik steeds zeer kritisch naar de onderwijskwaliteit heb gekeken. Professionaliseren van docenten en docententeams als bijdrage aan het verhogen van de onderwijskwaliteit is mijn focus geworden.
Vanaf 2007 heb ik als directeur bij het ROC Tilburg gewerkt totdat ik op 1 januari 2012 het wethouderschap in de gemeente Loon op Zand aanvaardde. Als wethouder economische- en sociaal culturele zaken heb ik veel mogen bereiken, maar helaas was er na de verkiezingen van maart 2014 geen plaats meer voor mij in het college. Wel ben ik sindsdien gemeenteraadslid voor GemeenteBelangen. GemeenteBelangen is niet gebonden aan enige landelijke politieke partij en kan dus optimaal voor de plaatselijke en regionale belangen opkomen. Ons Water is daarmee te vergelijken en ik ben dan ook blij dat ik op de lijst van Ons Water de waterschapsbelangen van de regio Midden-Brabant en de Langstraat mede mag vertegenwoordigen.
Thans ben ik betrokken bij een aantal onderwijsprojecten en ben inmiddels een administratiekantoor gestart dat is gespecialiseerd in persoonlijke administraties. (van vooral senioren).

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!
