Dat is voor een land, grotendeels onder zeeniveau, van groter belang dan eigenlijk al het andere. Als boer zijnde, werkende met weer, klimaat, water en soms wateroverlast, ondernemend voor eigen rekening en risico, weet ik dat wellicht als geen ander. Boeren hebben mede deze oer-democratische bestuurslaag gemaakt. Hierdoor is Nederland mede een van de meest democratische en welvarende landen op aarde.
