Bestuurlijk overleg met wethouder Ad van de Heijning van de gemeente Alphen-Chaam met als agendapunten onder andere: de voortgang van het project “Sloten, Oevers en Dijken op Orde”, de onderlinge samenwerking, EVZ’s, beheer en onderhoud, KRW watersysteemanalyses en klimaatadaptatie.
Een drietal PHO’s over het komende werkbezoek Markdal, een bypass in de Overdiepse Polder en het komende bestuurlijke overleg met de gemeente Zundert.

De dag begon met een diepe ergernis. In de auto onderweg naar het waterschap luister ik normaliter graag naar Radio 1, het Radio 1 journaal. Omstreeks 7.37 nam de verslaggever van dienst contact op met de parlementair verslaggever Joost Vullings met de vraag: “waar gaan ze het in de Tweede Kamer vandaag over hebben?”. Het antwoord van Joost Vullings was: “het gaat deze dagen nergens over”. Dat ‘nergens’ bleek onder andere een dertigledendebat over de opwarming in de steden te zijn. Ik maak mij al jaren sterk voor de aanpak van hittestress. In warme periodes leidt hittestress tot oversterfte. Als voorbeeld een hittegolf in Frankrijk in 2003 die tot meer dan 11.000 extra doden leidde. Hoezo meneer Vullings, het gaat nergens over? Het gaat over voorkoombare sterfgevallen! Vullings eindigde met: “het heeft allemaal niet zo veel zin”. De radioreporter van dienst was heel wat meer betrokken bij het te bespreken onderwerp. Zijn slotzin inzake het onderwerp was: “Ik ben benieuwd wat er besloten wordt over de opwarming van de steden”. Wat later in het programma dook een onderwerp op waar ik de laatste weken al twee keer over geschreven heb (Over Water 104 en Over Water 107): ‘Modern asfalt’. In de gemeente Leek start een proef met een CO2 absorberende weg die ook nog eens koeler blijft (dus iets doet aan hittestress) en licht reflecteert en daarmee veiliger is. Toch nog een mentale opsteker!
Het eerste DB met de nieuwe dijkgraaf. Eerst een informeel deel samen met het beoogde toekomstige DB lid Hans-Peter Verroen over (toekomstige) portefeuilleverdeling. Daarna het formele deel met als agendapunten onder andere: de restauratie Keenesluis en het 380 KV tracé Borssele -Tilburg.
In de middag een PHO ter voorbereiding van het overleg over Dongepark met de gemeente Dongen.

Vandaag de gehele dag het werkbezoek aan het Markdal. Deelnemers waren vooral mensen die middels Nederland Boven Water deelnemen aan de Democratic Challenge Omgevingswet. Aan het begin een praatje van wethouder Arbouw van Breda daarna tijdens een rondrit door het gebied een aantal sprekers van de vereniging Markdal. Ik zelf lichtte de ervaringen toe van het waterschap met het proces. Aan het einde vertelde een medewerker van de gemeente Alphen-Chaam over de gemeentelijke deelname aan de aanpak van het Markdal toe. Ik vind het jammer dat ik de enige bestuurder van een overheid was die het hele werkbezoek bijwoonde. Ook miste ik de gedeputeerde. De provincie was ambtelijk wel ruim vertegenwoordigd.
7 september
In de morgen PHO’s over de 380KV en over de gebiedsontwikkeling Pauwels bij Tilburg. Daarna een evaluatie van het bestuurlijke proces door de leden van de Stuurgroep Geertruidenberg/Amertak.
In de avond het fractieberaad van Ons Water/ West-Brabant Waterbreed.
8 september
Een bespreking met wethouder Bea van Beers van de gemeente Dongen over een herinrichting van Park Dongedal en een mogelijk verlegging van de Donge.
Daarna een PHO over een belastingaangelegenheid.
