HET RIJK KRIJGT KRITIEK OP DE MER VOOR RIJKSSTRUCTUURVISIE GREVELINGEN VOLKERAK-ZOOMMEER UIT EIGEN HUIS
De Commissie voor de m.e.r. vindt dat het milieueffectrapport (MER) behorende bij de Rijksstructuurvisie Grevelingen Volkerak-Zoommeer de huidige toestand van de natuur en de ontwikkelingen in de gebieden niet goed beschrijft. Zo is er geen gebruik gemaakt van alle beschikbare kwantitatieve informatie. Ook is nog onvoldoende duidelijk hoe de maatregelen, zoals het terugbrengen van eb en vloed in de Grevelingen en het zout maken van het Volkerak-Zoommeer, de natuur in de toekomst beïnvloeden. De commissie adviseert daarom het rapport aan te vullen voordat een besluit over de Rijksstructuurvisie wordt genomen.
Het ministerie van Infrastructuur en Milieu heeft laten weten het milieueffectrapport aan te zullen vullen en deze aanvullende informatie opnieuw door de Commissie voor de m.e.r. te laten toetsen.
Hopelijk komt het ministerie op basis van de aanvulling dan al tot de conclusie dat verzilting van het Volkerak-Zoommeer een heilloze weg is. Voor meer informatie zie het Voorlopig Toetsingsadvies over het milieueffectrapport Rijksstructuurvisie Grevelingen Volkerak-Zoommeer.
