In de morgen DB met onder andere een thema sessie over de aanpak watergebiedsprogrammering en de KRW-watersysteemanalyses, alsmede de agendapunten: de actualisatie van de communicatievisie en de adviesnota over het project “Sloten, oevers en dijken op orde”.
In de middag het bestuurlijk overleg met wethouders van de gemeenten Gilze-Rijen, Baarle-Nassau en Alphen/Chaam over het waterschapsproject ‘inhaalslag Keur en oneigenlijk grondgebruik’ in het gemeentehuis van Baarle-Nassau.

In de morgen een telefonische vergadering over de scoop van het dijkverbeteringsproject Geertruidenberg/Amertak.
In de middag een bijeenkomst van de werkeenheid Hart van Brabant te Tilburg met als agendapunten onder andere een evaluatie van de uitgevoerde projecten in 2015 en het programma voor 2016. Waar ik trots op ben is dat in deze werkeenheid voorlopig een drietal gemeenten met behulp van het waterschap Brabantse Delta op het vlak van maaien en baggeren gezamenlijk een bestek hebben opgesteld en aanbesteed. Dit is een stap verder in de onderlinge samenwerking dan het nationaal bestuursakkoord beoogde. Een dik compliment voor die gemeenten. Hopelijk gaan in 2016 meer gemeenten meedoen. De besparingen tellen weliswaar niet mee in de te halen prestaties in het kader van het nationaal bestuurakkoord, maar tellen wel lekker aan. Wat ook leuk is, als het gaat om de aanpak van de kwetsbaarheid, is dat de werkeenheid Meierij van het waterschap de Dommel hierbij betrokken is. Ook dit is een blijk van de verdergaande ambities van de werkeenheid Hart van Brabant en de wil echt samen te werken waar het kan.
In de avond een thema AB over duurzaam financieel beheer en de op te stellen kadernota.

Het Rioned symposium bezocht in Utrecht. Het symposium begon voor mij pas goed met de lezing van Prof. Dr. Wim de Ridder. Een voor mij inspirerend verhaal met veel punten van herkenning. Hij schetste op basis van een aantal uitspraken van leiders van grote ondernemingen een aantal te verwachten ontwikkelingen, zoals over de zelfrijdende auto’s, waarvan Google zegt: “We gaan door tot dat er 90 % minder auto-ongelukken zijn”. Dan kwam de vraag op: “mogen we in 2025 nog wel zelf autorijden?”, als wij mensen de risicofactor zijn.
Op de dag dat Shell haar cijfers bekend maakte en stelde dat in deze eeuw fossiele brandstoffen de energiebron voor het gemotoriseerd verkeer zouden blijven, stelt de CEO van Tesla dat de komende jaren de ontwikkeling van batterijen een bereik van 1500 kilometer mogelijk gaan maken. De Ridder stelde ook dat de algoritmes van de computers geen ethiek kennen en dat de weerstand van de oude verdienmodellen van de grote ondernemingen niet zal baten. Wanneer komt voor de Shell’s van deze wereld het ‘Kodak moment‘?
De wet van Moore blijkt al bijna 50 jaar mee te gaan. Computers worden alsmaar sneller. De maatschappij kraakt en steeds vaker komt de vraag boven: kan de mens wel mee in dit tempo van de technologische ontwikkeling? Steeds meer mensen roepen om een moratorium op technologische ontwikkelingen, omdat voor velen de ontwikkelingen te snel gaan en deze een groot effect hebben op de samenleving. Natuurlijk is het een onmogelijkheid om de technologische ontwikkelingen stil te leggen. Maar het laat wel zien dat het de samenleving bezig houdt. Met name de onderklasse leidt er onder, volgens Wim de Ridder. Toen ik verwees naar de Luddieten bevestigde hij de vele overeenkomsten tussen de eerste industriële revolutie en de vierde die nu aan de gang is.
Daarna heb ik een privébezoek gebracht aan de gemeente Oostzaan, waar ik het natuurgebied Het Twiske bezocht. Een prachtig veenweide gebied met veel water dat een bezoek zeker waard is. Ook op deze winterdag is het daar goed wandelen of fietsen.
