In een land als het onze hebben we tot nu toe nooit een tekort aan kwalitatief drinkwater. In veel gebieden in de wereld is er niet alleen een tekort aan water, maar vooral aan goed en veilig drinkwater. Via condensatie systemen is al langer bekend dat vrijwel overal water is te winnen vanuit de lucht.

Het materiaal is gemakkelijk herbruikbaar en bestaat het niet uit toxische componenten.

Bij mijn afscheid van de Unie commissie waterkeringen kreeg ik van collega heemraad Goos den Hartog het boekwerk “Tussen dijkstoel en dorpspolder” over de 474 voorlopers van het huidige waterschap Rivierenland (1273 – 2005). Omdat ik zelf in het Algemeen Bestuur van twee voorlopers heb gezeten (in 2000 en 2001 het Zuiveringsschap Rivierenland en van 1999 tot eind 2004 het Hoogheemraadschap Alm en Biesbosch en in 2005, het eerste jaar van het huidige Waterschap Rivierenland in het overgangsbestuur), heb ik het boekwerk met veel plezier en herkenning gelezen. Een prachtig stuk waterschapgeschiedenis van het rivierengebied. Het is fijn van die geschiedenis deel uit gemaakt te hebben. Goos bedankt!
Soms kom ik een (oud) boek/cursus tegen dat heden ten dage nog steeds leerzaam en actueel kan zijn. Zo ook een Teleac/Not cursus “Het woelige water” met als subtitel “watermanagement in Nederland”. Deze cursus werd in maart/april 1998 in 8 afleveringen uitgezonden, met als hoofdstukken:
– Het zeeschap der Lage Landen
– De mens wikt, de zee beschikt
– Nederland krijgt vor
– Veroveraars in den natte
– Waterbeheer en -gebruik
– Water voor tansport en
– Water recreatie.
Het boek was voor mij een openbaring, hoe actueel een cursus over ‘water’ na bijna 20 jaar nog kan zijn.
