BETREFT: AANPASSINGEN WILHELMINAKANAAL, KENMERK W 21002
Geacht Dagelijks bestuur,
In november 2007 ondertekenden het Ministerie van Verkeer en Waterstaat, de provincie Noord-Brabant en de gemeente Tilburg een convenant betreffende het Wilhelminakanaal. Dit convenant behelsde de verbreding en verdieping van het kanaal, het slopen van sluis II en het omleggen van het kanaal bij sluis III. Dit is nodig omdat de huidige sluis III de laatste bajonetsluis in het Wilhelminakanaal is en aangemerkt is als industrieel erfgoed. In de omlegging komt een nieuwe, grotere sluis. Ten oosten van deze sluis komt een zwaaikom (keerplaats) voor de schepen. Op de website https://www.rijkswaterstaat.nl/nieuws/2020/11/stand-van-zaken-project-wilhelminakanaal-sluis-ii.aspx (MIRROR) van Rijkswaterstaat is nu te lezen dat men in 2021 op zoek gaat naar een aannemer die het ontwerp ‘in detail gaat uitwerken op basis van de opgestelde eisen en richtlijnen.’
Dit allemaal om de capaciteit van het kanaal te vergroten. Het huidige kanaal is – naar mijn kennis – ontworpen om schepen tot 500 ton te faciliteren, en tot 700 ton op het benedenpand.
Ook het Markkanaal is ontworpen voor de bevaarbaarheid voor schepen tot 500 ton laadvermogen.
Hydrologisch beïnvloedt het Wilhelminakanaal de omgeving in hoge mate.
Hierbij stel ik u de volgende vragen:

Op welke wijze is het waterschap betrokken bij de opstelling van de “opgestelde eisen en richtlijnen”?

Wat zijn de “opgestelde eisen en richtlijnen”?

Is het DB van mening dat de “opgestelde eisen en richtlijnen” voldoende borgen dat de hydrologische, nadelige gevolgen van het kanaal op de omgeving worden beperkt?

Welke rol kan het Wilhelminakanaal in de toekomst spelen in een klimaatbestendig en veerkrachtig waterlandschap en wordt die mogelijke rol meegenomen in de “opgestelde eisen en richtlijnen”?

Zijn er effecten van de veranderingen te verwachten op het Markkanaal?
