Op vakantie kom je soms goede ideeën tegen. Zo zag een lid van de Rotaryclub Katwijk – Noordwijk in Cannes – in la douce France – bij een aantal putten/straatkolken een plaatje met de tekst ‘Ici commence la mer. Ne rien jeter svp’ oftewel ‘hier begint de zee. Niets ingooien aub’.
Als lid van een serviceclub als de Rotary dacht hij: dat is iets voor mijn gemeente. Nu kent een gemeente als Bergen op Zoom vermoedelijk meer dan 10.000 straatkolken maar hoe mooi zou het zijn als een dergelijk idee ook in onze gemeente navolging zou krijgen. Als is het maar bij scholen, bibliotheken, kerken, bushaltes, hangplekken en in het centrum, zodat de mensen er zich bewust van worden dat het riool geen afvaldumpplek is. In de gemeente Katwijk heeft het geleid tot een prachtige actie waarbij tal van sponsoren en verenigingen zich aansloten. In ons mooie Brabant is er ook in Geertruidenberg een actie tot navolging gestart.
Wat in dat andere ‘’den Berg” (Geertruidenberg) kan, moet ook kunnen in ons Bergen. Dus welke serviceclub pakt dit op? Ik neem aan dat de Rotarians in onze gemeente trappelen van ongeduld om in het kader van community service dit op te pakken of neemt een andere serviceclub dit initiatief? Ik neem zomaar aan dat de Rotaryclub Katwijk – Noordwijk er geen patent op heeft aangevraagd!
