In het voorjaar van 2020 had ik een gesprek met Karel Thieme (Zuiver Water-Ambassadeur/Theeproever) over de zuiverheid en de kwaliteit van ons drink- en oppervlaktewater.
Is er iets mis met ons drinkwater? Ons drinkwater voldoet aan alle eisen die de wet eraan stelt en toch proef je het verschil. Als je het water in Rotterdam proeft als Bergenaar ben je geneigd er spontaan direct afscheid van te nemen. Er zijn wel degelijk grote verschillen in de smaak van ons drinkwater en ook van wat er buiten H20 (water) inzit. In drinkwater gemaakt van oppervlaktewater zitten duizenden andere stofjes dan H20, vele door de mens in de industrie gemaakt maar gelukkig in superlage concentraties. Ook grondwater dat duizenden jaren geleden de grond in is gesijpeld, is niet vrij van stofjes die geen H2O zijn. En die stofjes beïnvloeden de smaak.
Karel Thieme – de zuiver waterambassadeur en theeproever – liet mij met zijn theeproef zien wat de verschillen zijn van thee gezet met zijn ‘zuiver water’ en gezet met andere watertjes. Hij promoot de Aquapeak een apparaat dat door omgekeerde osmose het water ontdoet van de meeste onzuiverheden en een perfect ‘theewater’ levert. De verschillen zijn enorm dat zal iedere theesommelier bevestigen.
Geïnspireerd de theeproef van Karel zelf eens te gaan doen met verschillende waters? Theeliefhebber? Of (hobby)theesommelier in opleiding? Er is recent een thee review boek verschenen! Handig als u uw ervaringen in de theeproeverij wilt vastleggen.
Water en de kwaliteit ervan zijn belangrijk voor de flora en fauna en voor ons. Zeker als we er thee of koffie van zetten, willen we toch echt de thee of koffie in al hun kwaliteiten proeven.
